Boy Scouts Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) - October 20, 2007 at the Might Eighth Air Force Museum

Amateur Radio Operators in the Savannah area shouldn't forget about the Boy Scouts' Jamboree on the Air, taking place this weekend at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum in Pooler, GA. Hams are encouraged to stop by the event this Saturday to help expose the Boy Scouts to Amateur Radio. If you can't make it by, hang around the radios and try to make contacts with the Scouts on HF or on the 146.970 repeater locally.

The Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum is located off of US 80 just east of I-95 in Pooler. As you enter the museum parking lot, you'll see an F-4 Phantom and a MiG-17 to your right. The Scouts will be setting up along the side of building just west of the Phantom and the MiG.

It is suggested that you wear long pants and bring some insect repellent; mosquitoes can be a problem in that area. If you don't plan on eating at the restaurant inside the museum, you might want to bring something with you (there are also several other restaurants in close proximity to the museum). If you want to visit the museum while you are there, it is completely separate from this event and you will have to pay admission.
