According to news reports from WSAV and WTOC in Savannah, VMFA(AW)-224 deploys to Japan for a six month rotation this week. Approximately 20 personnel departed today with the bulk of the squadron to follow later in the week. I was not around the radios today, so I didn't hear if the squadron's F/A-18s departed or if it was an advance party that departed.
